ESSCA – Elite Solar Solutions Canada

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does ESSCA stand for?

ESSCA stands for Elite Solar Solutions Canada. We help homeowners and businesses transition to clean, renewable solar energy while lowering their long-term electricity costs.

How does solar power work?

Solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into electricity using photovoltaic (PV) cells. The electricity produced can power your home, and any excess energy can be sent back to the grid through net metering.

How much can I save with solar?

Most homeowners can reduce their electricity bills by 40%–90% depending on system size and usage. Over the lifetime of a solar system (25+ years), savings can reach tens of thousands of dollars.

Does solar work in British Columbia?

Yes. Solar works very well in BC and the Fraser Valley. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight—not just direct sunshine. Even on cloudy days, panels still produce energy.

What incentives or rebates are available in BC?

Solar Incentives & Rebates in British Columbia

1. BC Hydro Solar Panel Rebate

This is the main incentive available in BC right now.

Rebate amount:

  • $1,000 per kW of installed solar capacity

  • Maximum rebate: $5,000

Example:

  • 5 kW solar system → $5,000 rebate

The rebate can cover up to 50% of installation costs (equipment + labour).

2. BC Hydro Battery Storage Rebate

Homeowners who install battery storage with their solar system can also qualify.

Rebate amount:

  • $500 per kWh of battery storage

  • Maximum rebate: $5,000

Some programs require participation in BC Hydro’s Peak Saver energy program.

3. Combined Solar + Battery Incentive

If both systems are installed:

  • Solar rebate → up to $5,000

  • Battery rebate → up to $5,000

Total potential incentive:
💰 Up to $10,000 per household

4. Net Metering (Self-Generation Program)

BC Hydro allows solar customers to send extra electricity back to the grid.

Benefits:

  • Credits for excess electricity produced

  • Lower electricity bills

  • Ability to offset winter energy usage

This program is called Self-Generation / Net Metering in BC.

How long do solar panels last?

Most solar panels are designed to last 25–30 years and often continue producing electricity beyond that period.

What maintenance is required?

Solar systems require very little maintenance. Rain usually keeps panels clean. In some cases, a simple annual inspection is recommended.

What happens during a power outage?

Standard grid-connected solar systems shut down during outages for safety. However, systems can be paired with battery storage to provide backup power.

How long does installation take?

Most residential solar installations take 1–2 days once permits and approvals are complete.

Will solar panels damage my roof?

No. When installed properly, solar panels protect the roof area underneath them and are mounted with professional waterproof systems.

Can ESSCA help with financing?

Yes. We can help guide homeowners through financing programs and payment options so solar can often be installed with little or no upfront cost.

What is the first step to getting solar?

The first step is a free solar assessment. ESSCA will review your roof, electricity usage, and provide a customized solar plan.
